The Broke String Band plays a combination of acoustic
blues and roots rock with a unique combination of instruments.
Bob Copeland is the lead vocalist with a style remniscent of
John Fogerty, Bob Seger and Howlin Wolf. He also plays lead and
rhythm guitar that lends a solid contribution to the band's overall
sound.
Terry Downs holds down the bottom end with creative
bass lines on tuba. He is largely responsible for the groups unique
sound.
Tony Rodriguez is a talented and tasteful harmonica player
who compliments the sound with a dynamic style of playing similar
to Sonny Terry and Little Walter.
Ray Ziegler combines drums,
washboard and an interesting mix of other percussion instruments to
create grooves. He also fills in with some dynamite harmony and lead
vocals as well.
Eric Cutshall is the songwriter and multi-instrumentalist
of the group playing widely known instruments such as the Dobro and
mandolin as well as obscure ones like the bouzouki and unexpected
ones like the ukulele.
